Hello, I am Don Forsyth, and this being my first blog post, I believe it is essential to outline my political philosophy to readers, so that they may have context for my viewpoints. Also, before I begin, let me say that these are my viewpoints, not my partner Brian’s. Even though Brian and I have known each other since we were born, he is an individual, with his own experiences, and possessing his unique view which he will share with readers in the future.
I identify primarily as a nationalist, holding that government actions should prioritize the best interests of the United States. This perspective emphasizes loyalty and devotion to our nation. While I acknowledge that our country faces challenges requiring attention, I find it difficult to tolerate those enjoying the benefits of our nation while simultaneously labeling it as fundamentally evil. I believe that such a stance often stems from a lack of maturity, life experience, and perspective on the privileges we possess as U.S. citizens.
In addition to my nationalist views, I embrace certain populist principles, advocating for a government that represents the interests of the people rather than specific groups or parties. I hold the conviction that all individuals in the U.S. are capable of achieving their aspirations through determination and effort. We are all born with varying quantities of resources and challenges; some, like myself, may start with fewer advantages. However, I believe that whatever cards we have been dealt in life, we play them to the best of our ability, and not simply feel sorry for ourselves.
I recognize that my perspectives may differ from others, and I welcome intelligent dialogue. Engaging with diverse viewpoints enriches our understanding and fosters a more informed community. With this foundation, I invite you to join me as I explore and discuss various political topics, always aiming to provide thoughtful and experience-based insights.
